Progress M-06M Launched to Resupply the ISS

Russia launched the latest resupply mission to the International Space Station at 12:36 PM Phoenix time (19:36 UTC). The Progress M-06M cargo vessel rode aloft the reliable Soyuz three stage rocket.

The Progress is to deliver about 2.5 tons of cargo supplies to the International Space Station, including propellant, water, air, scientific equipment and consumables. Docking is scheduled for Friday, 2 July 2010.

Part of its mission is to periodically boost the International Space Station (ISS) back into its planned orbit. The ISS is subject to drag that slowly lowers its orbit.
