Image from the International Space Station (ISS) of the European Space Agency (ESA) Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV-3), the “Edoardo Amaldi” during approach.

The “Edoardo Amaldi”, launched on 22 March and loaded with more than 7 tons of food, fuel and supplies for the six crew members on the orbital laboratory, linked up with Zvezda at 3:31 PM Phoenix time Wednesday. It is expected to remain docked to Zvezda for about six months.

The replay of the docking can be seen here.

One of the great experiences of opening the hard docked hatches is the smell of the oranges and apples aboard the spacecraft.
